Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve made a decent update. My only real excuse is that, in between all of the hecticness, I’ve been lazy.
I really don’t even know where to begin, but I guess I’ll start with the awesome stuff. My brother and I went to a midnight showing of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Aside from the massive crowd, really long wait and crappy seats, the movie was absolutely amazing. By far my favorite so far, and they really have their work cut out for them if they want Breaking Dawn to meet my new, very high expectations.
The Eclipse premiere was on late Tuesday/early Wednesday. On Thursday, I went with my mom, Blaine, and Tori to see Toy Story 3. I thought it was really great. I think it was a very nostalgic experience. My brother watched the first movie so many times when he was little, and by proximity, so did I. It came be a bit worrisome when they decide to do a sequel to something like that, especially since it had been quite a few years since Toy Story 2 as well, but the movie was excellent. I could have done without watching it in 3D. I’ve found I’m really not a fan of it. Doesn’t seem to do much for me. Maybe because I don’t like wearing the 3D glasses over my regular glasses. Who knows.
Then that Friday, my best friend, Nikki, came to visit. She’s been living in California for the last three years, but she’s originally from Ohio. Right now she’s back in Ohio for the first time since moving, visiting with friends and family for a month. Since she was so close, we made really quick plans for her to come and visit for a few days. We met basically smack dab in the middle at a McDonald’s. I drove, which was kind of nerve wracking, yet exciting. I might have something of a lead foot. ;)
While she was here, we went to see Eclipse because she hadn’t got to see it yet, and I was just happy to watch from a seat that wasn’t the second row. It was just as awesome the second time around. We had a fourth of July party as well. We cooked out, stuffed ourselves and had an all around good time. We didn’t really see any fireworks. We lost our prime spot when mom moved back in with Bart, and we didn’t really feel like fussy around, finding a good place to park since we’ve likely have to go at least a couple of hours in advance. Plus, the fireworks were only set to last a couple of hours.
Nikki and I also went to see The Last Airbender. I will admit that my motivation was mostly just to see Jackson Rathbone, but the movie turned out to be pretty awesome. I think there are supposed to be two more movies in the series, and I’m really looking forward to them. I’d really like to watch the television series the movie was based on. I’ll just have to find the time.
And since Nikki had never had Panera Bread, and I tend to go on and on about it, we went there for a late lunch/early dinner so she could see what I was always going on and on about. I think she liked it. If not, her taste just sucks. ;)
We met back up with Nikki’s dad halfway again on Wednesday, so she could go back home and visit with her family and friends. It was a short visit but still really nice. It just happened to be one of those lucky sort of times where setting up a visit here was convenient. We’ve been talking on the phone a lot more lately, though, which helps because sometimes life just has a way of getting away from you and friendships don’t necessarily deteriorate but you can miss out on a lot of stuff that’s going on.
Now for the kind of blah stuff.
My sister got kicked out of her apartment. She apparently didn’t pay her rent. She’s been staying here for about a week. It’s fine but crowded and makes things a little hectic. I feel kind of claustraphobic walking through the living room and kitchen sometimes because a lot of hers and baby’s stuff is sitting around there. She’s supposedly getting a trailer, and should be able to get in by the end of the week. We’ll see what happens. I don’t even know what to think or say about it.
Then my mom and her boyfriend have been fighting. I won’t go into the details of that, but it’s all pretty ridiculous. My mom’s boyfriend called me yesterday, wanting to vent about it, but what am I going to say? I mean, it’s not my fight and none of my business. My answers were a lot of ‘uh huh’s and ‘yeah’s. I don’t know what’s going to become of them.

I haven’t posted in a while. Oops. Things have been a bit hectic. Work has been busy. Then I got my new car on Friday. My sister wasn’t too happy about the trade, but then we’re not too happy with her right now either. She’s pregnant again by a guy that already has a slew of kids he doesn’t take care of. My mom chewed her out. She told her that she was ruining her life. Since she’s moved out, she’s dropped out of college, wasn’t able to make her car payment for two months (thus the trade), probably ruined her credit and she never has Tori. How is she going to raise another kid? We’re about all convinced that she’s on drugs, and if I thought it was possible to get her into drug rehab, I’d gladly pitch in to pay for it. I hate seeing her ruin her life this way.
On a brighter note, I really like the car. It drives so much smoother than the old one. It just feels massive by comparison, but I think that’s just because it’s higher off the ground than my old one – not like that would take much, though.
I’ve also been reading the Left Behind books by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. I started reading them back when I was in high school. I probably got about halfway through the series before I stopped for whatever reason. Now I’m picking them back up, but I had to start over because I couldn’t remember much of anything that happened.
Also, next month Half-Blood Prince is in theaters. Blaine and I are already planning to go see it. I’d like to go to the midnight showing, but I have no way of knowing if I’ll have to work the next day, and, if so, I’ll be completely useless unless I don’t have to go into work until later in the afternoon, so we’ll see what happens. I’m really excited about it, though. It’s been a long wait!

It has been a long day. I worked from 10 to 5:30 today. Then on my way home my grandma called to let me know that we were going out for dinner. I also realized that it might do me good to invest in a Bluetooth headset because I’m just really not that coordinated – especially when it comes to driving and trying to do other things at once. Not that anyone should really be trying to do that anyway.
My cousin, Cassie, was here, and she went out for dinner with us. Then after we ate we went by mom’s for a little while. My brother and cousin have been out here for the last couple of days helping my grandpa clean out the garage. Right now our driveway is a mess. We have a pile of junk and a huge trash dumpster sitting there. Today they ripped out the wall at the back of the garage where there used to be a room. In the process my brother stepped on a nail and wound up having to go get a tetnis shot. Lovely.
They’ll be out here again tomorrow. I don’t know how close they are to finishing. Grandma and I are planning to go get groceries at some point tomorrow as well. I just hope it’s not while those boys are still here because they’ll eat us out of house and home, and I don’t like the idea of starving for the next month until we get groceries again.
Oh, and I, obviously, didn’t get around to making that new layout I was talking about. Perhaps tomorrow. Sleep now.

My Labor Day weekend was pretty uneventful. We just had a cookout yesterday. Pretty standard – Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, brownies, and a few other miscellaneous items. It was all delicious, of course. We stuffed ourselves silly. Then my mom suggested we go shopping. It is without a doubt her favorite past time. Allyson managed to find quite a few good buys. Then I got three of the $5 graphic tees from Old Navy, and two pairs of their pajama shorts, which were also $5. I wish I could have found some pants. I always have the hardest time with them.
I can’t believe it’s already September. It’s nearly time to start boxing up my summer clothes and bringing out the fall clothing. I cringe at the thought of going out into the garage and moving boxes around. It’s pretty scary in there. Every year my grandpa claims he’s waiting for that perfect day to get my brother and cousins out here to help him clean it out. If he’s waiting for the perfect day, I can pretty much guess that it’s just never going to happen.
Tori had her first day of preschool today. I can’t believe she’s old enough to go. It seems impossible that she’s already four. Time flies entirely too quickly. I have a birthday coming up this month, which I’m adamantly trying to pretend isn’t happening, and at the end of the year my brother will be fifteen. That’s just too bizarre to try to fathom. I still think of him as a little kid. Maybe because I just don’t want him to grow up. It makes me feel old, but I guess he’ll always be my baby brother regardless of how old either of us are.

Well, I’ve had a busy weekend so far. Friday I went shopping with my mom, Blaine and Cody. The boys wanted to buy some new clothes for school. They managed to blow all of their money pretty quickly. I didn’t see too much, but I did buy Tori’s gift.
My brother is a hoot. He loves to do impressions of people. He was doing them of Bart and my uncle. Crazy kid. Along the way he and Cody spotted some used Harleys for sale along the road and babbled about that. Then my brother was trying to convince my mom to buy him an Eclipse from some guy that was selling them somewhere. I really didn’t get the details. I usually just sort of shut off after a while. I think I’m getting the hang of this selective hearing thing. We dropped Blaine and Cody off to meet their girlfriends at the park, and I hung out at my mom’s house most of the day.
Tori was with Mitch, and Allyson was supposed to pick her up at his house while she was in town. She had to go straightened out some stuff with the financial aid office at school, and she was going to get her afterwards, but Mitch decided to change plans and said he’d bring her into town later. He was supposed to drop her off between four and five, and Allyson called when she didn’t hear from him, and he’d made some more plans and said it wouldn’t be until later, so, naturally, she was upset. Then he called back a couple of hours later to say he was on his way into town. It should have taken him thirty minutes to go to the house. He didn’t show up for another hour and a half. So Bart had a few words with him. I won’t get into the details, but I think Allyson and Mitch had talked through things enough to be civil and have a tentative schedule for seeing Tori.
Then today we had Tori’s birthday party out at the park. She had a strawberry cake with chocolate chips in it that my mom made for her. She seemed to enjoy opening her presents and she played in the park with Dennis’ (Allyson’s new boyfriend) niece.
Tomorrow I have the last of the family reunions to attend. I’m anticipating a lot of food and a lot of people, as there is every year.
