Busy B

I haven’t posted in a while. Oops. Things have been a bit hectic. Work has been busy. Then I got my new car on Friday. My sister wasn’t too happy about the trade, but then we’re not too happy with her right now either. She’s pregnant again by a guy that already has a slew of kids he doesn’t take care of. My mom chewed her out. She told her that she was ruining her life. Since she’s moved out, she’s dropped out of college, wasn’t able to make her car payment for two months (thus the trade), probably ruined her credit and she never has Tori. How is she going to raise another kid? We’re about all convinced that she’s on drugs, and if I thought it was possible to get her into drug rehab, I’d gladly pitch in to pay for it. I hate seeing her ruin her life this way.

On a brighter note, I really like the car. It drives so much smoother than the old one. It just feels massive by comparison, but I think that’s just because it’s higher off the ground than my old one – not like that would take much, though.

I’ve also been reading the Left Behind books by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. I started reading them back when I was in high school. I probably got about halfway through the series before I stopped for whatever reason. Now I’m picking them back up, but I had to start over because I couldn’t remember much of anything that happened.

Also, next month Half-Blood Prince is in theaters. Blaine and I are already planning to go see it. I’d like to go to the midnight showing, but I have no way of knowing if I’ll have to work the next day, and, if so, I’ll be completely useless unless I don’t have to go into work until later in the afternoon, so we’ll see what happens. I’m really excited about it, though. It’s been a long wait!

New Car. Well, Maybe.

Well, it looks like I’m getting a new car. My sister and I are swapping cars. Since our mom had to make the payment last month, and Allyson couldn’t afford it again this month either, our mom suggested I take over the payments and just give her my car. Somehow, that doesn’t quite seem like a fair trade, but, considering, my mom helped me buy my car, I guess I do owe her. And my sister’s car would be an upgrade. My current car is a white 1993 Ford Probe. Allyson has a red 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT. I spent a good deal of time going through my bills and past paycheck stubs to figure out if I can afford to make the payments, and then I had to get a quote on car insurance, and I decided I could handle it. I’m not sure how my sister feels about all of it, but since she hasn’t been making payments and it’s been falling to our mom, I don’t think she can say too much. Besides, she get a free car out of the deal.

Shopped Out

Man, I’m completely pooped. I got up at 8 this morning, showered, ate breakfast, and went to the bank before I went shopping with my mom. I got quite a few items at Kohl’s. I was really happy to find some jeans because I have the hardest time finding ones that fit like they’re supposed to. I also got a couple of shirts and two necklaces there too. We stopped for lunch at Panera Bread before we hit the mall. I found a shirt at Sears. I was sad not find anything I liked at Maurice’s. Usually when I’m broke, they have all kinds of stuff that I like. No luck today. Naturally.

I pretty well spent my check, but I really needed the new clothes. When I got home, I went through my closet and dresser and I got rid of quite a few things. I threw away some stuff that was really old and ratty, and put the rest of the stuff that either didn’t fit or I just knew I wouldn’t wear into a bag to take to a local secondhand store.

My next check is going into savings. Part of me wants to save up get to my own place while the other part of me wants to save up for something like a new car. I like my car. It’s nice enough, but it’s really not my ideal. And I’m not a car person by any means, so it’s not like I want something flashy. I’d just like something a little bigger. A four door car that sits more than half a foot off the ground. The only time I really dislike my car is in the winter time just because it’s terrible to drive in the snow. But at the same time, I’d hate to get a newer car because my car insurance would go up, and it’s so low right now that it would be hard to beat. I wish there was a way to get auto insurance quotes on cars without ending up with the hassle of insurance companies calling to talk to you about it later. But it seems like you can’t inquire about much online without someone calling you. Very annoying.
