A More Sufficient Update For A Change
Monday, August 6th, 2007

I tried calling the financial aid office at school again today. Still no answer. I did leave a message, and if I don’t hear back by the end of the day, I’ll just fill out the form again and take it up there. It makes me mad, though, because I’ve tried calling three times and there’s never been an answer. I know it would be easy to just fill out the form again, but since I already turned in one, it would help to know if I did something wrong or if they need something else before I make a trip up there. I get so frustrated with them. I swear, they are so disorganized when it comes to this stuff. I thought I had everything done and ready to go for the fall semester, but, alas, they managed to find something else to mail to me at the last minute.

I spent the last half hour or so straightening out my finances. I couldn’t figure out why my bank statement and my quicken account weren’t matching up. Then I realized that it had me as paying for something that I’d canceled, so I think I’ve got that all squared away. For the time being anyway.

I got my BMG Music CDs today. I got Eisley’s Room Noises, M2M’s The Big Room, Sarah McLachlan’s Afterglow, Counting Crows’ Films About Ghosts, Ben Folds’ Rockin’ the Suburbs, Jonny Lang’s Turn Around (which I haven’t heard any of it yet), and The Best of Hanson: The Millennium Collection. I have to buy another CD from BMG and then I get two more free. I think I’ll wait a little while before I buy those. I still have to buy Tori a birthday present, so I think that should come first.

Things are going well on the diet front. Yesterday was the first day in a while where I just felt insanely hungry all day. I use a lot of my flex points yesterday. Hopefully, I’ll do about the same this week as I did this week and it won’t matter much because most days I didn’t use any of my flex points. I just weighed myself again, and I think I’ve lost at least another pound, which is exciting. A while back I was thinking about getting one of those colon cleansing kits. While the idea of a colon cleanse isn’t particularly something I’d like to have done, it’s supposed to help make you feel better and it can help you lose up to ten pounds. I’m not completely against the idea, but I think I’ll just see how things go with Weight Watchers

July = Expensive
Sunday, July 15th, 2007

July has been so expensive! I had an extra bill this month, and it seems like just one bill can set you back a bit. I’ve started using Quicken to keep track off all of my bills. It’s a sort of financial reporting software. It’s been really useful especially since I have a bad habit of spending without really realizing it. That’s mostly why Nikki and I have been hanging out around the house the last few days. Yesterday we scrapped the scrapbooking and watched the first four Harry Potter movies. That was definitely a good way to waste some time. Now today we’re actually supposed to work on the scrapbooking. Besides that, I’m not entirely sure what we’re planning to do.

We’ve been talking a lot about Harry Potter and what might happen in Deathly Hallows. It’s exciting because in a week, we’ll have the answers. On the other hand, we’re both like “Oh my god! I don’t want to know!” We’re going to go pick up our books at midnight, and then we’ll probably stay up all night reading. That will give us Sunday to sleep and get some rest because Monday we’re leaving for Holiday World, and I think my mom said she wanted to leave by 6 am. Eek. I’m not looking forward to that.

Happy 4th of July!
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

My car may not be completely worthless. After letting the battery charge all night the other night, it started right up and worked perfectly fine when I went into town yesterday. I went by the bank and deposited a couple of checks and then went around to the ATM to activate my debit card. Well, it got activated, but I didn’t get any money, so I didn’t know what was going on. I went back into the bank and spoke with one of the tellers. She said that the debit card was active, but they have to tie the debit card to the bank account, and they usually don’t do that until after six. It would have been nice if they would have said something about that when I got the card in the mail. Anyway, she went ahead and tied the card the account, but I got my money inside.

I had to stop by the gas station because I was at about 1/8 of a tank. Not fun to drive on. The gas station was a madhouse with people. Insane. I put $20 in, and that took me up to about 2/3 of tank. I was kind of surprised by that. After that I went to my mom’s and waited for her to get home before we went to the park to walk. We walked around twice, and equals a mile. I was really feeling it too. My ankle is still bothering me. I forgot to check and see if we had a brace or an ace bandage or something I could put on. I’ll have to do that before I walk next time.

Today we’re having a cookout. It starts at six, so I’m really just waiting around until people start coming. I’m really hungry, though. I skipped lunch, which probably wasn’t a good idea, but by the time my stomach started growling, it was already almost four, so I thought I’d just wait it out. I just hope my grandpa grills those burgers fast! My mom also gave me her Weight Watchers books yesterday. I looked over them, and I may try to start on that next week. I was thinking about trying to get my grandma to go on it with me since she does the bulk of the cooking, and it would be much easier not to cheat if she wasn’t cooking stuff that’s high in points.

I hope everyone has a happy fourth of July. I think I’m going to go sit out on the front deck and wait for the rest of the family to get here.

The Battery Battle
Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

I have to go by the bank today and deposit a couple of checks and activate my debit card. Then I’m supposed to go walk with my mom at the park when she gets off of work. I think the park will be easier to walk at. The gravel on our road is about enough to kill me. I twisted my ankle on a rock last week, and it still hurts. But I need to go jump in the shower and get cleaned up to go into town.

I just hope my car doesn’t act up today. Yesterday it didn’t want to start it. My grandpa had to jump it, and I let it run for a while, but then when I turned it off and tried to restart it, it wouldn’t start again. So he put the battery on a charger pretty much all night last night. I haven’t tried to start it yet, but I’m crossing my fingers. I really need a new car. Bleh.

Sticking With It
Friday, June 29th, 2007

I walked again today. Thankfully, it was nice out so I didn’t have to contend with the elements. The sun was shining, but it wasn’t as hot as it was when I walked on Tuesday, and there was more of a breeze. Walking today was easier too. I think it’s mostly just a matter of getting myself into the habit and sticking with it. It feels good to get out and walk and work up a sweat, though. I’m so out of shape, and I hate that. But walking is a start. I might try to walk again tomorrow if the weather is permitting. I actually prefer walking to the exercise machine we have out on the front porch. I can just walk and think and listen to my music, and I like it that way.

I got my debit card in the mail today. I filled out the form online from my credit union’s website. That should make things easier. I have a couple of checks I need to go deposit, and then I need to use my card in the ATM to activated it. I might try to do that tomorrow or Monday. I think my grandma was wanting to go get groceries tonight, and I’m not complaining. The fridge is looking pretty bare right now.

I watched Bridge To Terebithia last night. I’ll admit it. I cried. I really didn’t know what to expect from the movie, and I was really a little weary of it at first just because I loved the book so much and hated the idea of them turning it into something it wasn’t, but it was really good. I think they made it just current enough without taking anything away from the book. The special effects were also really nice too. Not overdone or anything in my opinion.
