Assuming I survive the next couple of months, a bed and breakfast gift certificate would be a great Christmas present for me. I’m stressed. Between school, the holidays and other stupid stuff, I’m feeling a bit frazzled. This whole being an adult thing isn’t easy, and I’m beginning to understand why my mom was often so grouchy when I was growing up.
On a brighter note, I’m very excited because Hanson added an Indiana tour date. However, I don’t know if I’ll get to go. I think I could probably afford it, but I don’t have anyone to go with. I usually go with Nikki, and since she’s moving to California, I’d say the possibility of her going are zilch. I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to even bother to ask my sister. I doubt she’d agree to go. It’s really not any fun at all when none of your friends that live nearby like your favorite band. I suppose I could always beg my sister or resort to pleading with my mom. Although, it might be better to just go alone since the likelihood of them complaining the whole time is pretty high.

I slept until one o’clock today. That makes me sound insanely lazy, but I was just so tired. I cracked my eyes open once around ten or so, groaned and rolled over the other way and promptly passed back out again. I don’t remember other concerts being this exhausting, but then again I was younger the last time I went to one. Maybe I’m just getting old. It’s not completely implausible.
I’m just glad Smokey, my cat, didn’t decide to barge in my room and bother me today like he did yesterday morning. I have shades on my windows, and he likes to get over half on the window seat and half on my bed because it’s right by the window and stick his head between the shades and the window and look out. Well, I have my radio on the window seat and the antenna was pulled out, but it had fallen over, and somehow Smokey got the shade pulled around behind the antenna, leaving an open view outside for himself, but the sun shining directly in my face. I don’t know whether I should congratulate the cat on being smart enough to do something like that or what. I’ve wondered if maybe I should just get blinds for my windows instead. It might make it harder for Smokey to let the sun in while I’m trying to sleep. Of course, if he’s smart enough to use the antenna to hold the shades back, he might be able to work out something with the blinds too. Hmm …

I just got home from the Styx, Reo Speedwagon and Def Leppard concert. It was amazing. I enjoyed Def Leppard the most, but that’s because I knew pretty much all of their songs. There were a couple of newer ones I really didn’t know that well, but, overall, it was a great concert. I was so glad I finally got to see them live. I’ve basically been waiting to hear them for years.
After the concerts, though … Well, that was honestly a bit of a nightmare. Bart drove to the concert, but he had several drinks while we were there. I had one, but my mom didn’t drink any, so she had the luxury of driving home. This, however, is easier said than done. The parking lot was just a complete and utter mess. We waited for probably an hour in the parking lot just trying to get out. Some of my mom’s friends came over to talk to us. Melissa, one of my mom’s friends, was really drunk. Thankfully, Deanne was a designated driver, but Melissa decided she was going to just ride home with us.
Between trying to get out of the parking lot and get home in one piece - and believe me, this was a task and half because we were detoured several times and sat in traffic for a good two hours - I got to hear Melissa repeat herself about a million times. Not to mention, my mom was driving, and she isn’t really someone you want to ride with when she’s stressed out. It really makes me wonder how things went when she and Bart went to Branson Missouri on vacation a few weeks ago. I’m guessing Bart drove everywhere because when they came home, I actually got to hear about the places they got to see and there were no tales of driving misadventures.
To her credit, my mom did get us home in one piece. I think she might have liked to have slugged Bart in the mouth a few times, but I was just glad to see her apartment building and my car in the parking lot. I’m so tired right now that I can barely think straight. I did want to get a post up about the concert before I went to bed. I imagine I’ll have more details later once I’ve gotten rid of this headache and gotten some much needed sleep.

The Def Leppard, Reo Speedwagon, and Styx concert is today. Albeit, much later today. I’m still really excited about it, though. I haven’t been to a concert in what feels like ages. It’s probably been two years. :(
Yesterday, I walked down the back road again. My cousins Cole and Cassie stayed the night and Cassie walked with me, but I think I was too slow for her. What I wouldn’t give to have the energy of a nine-year-old again. It was awfully hot. There was some shade for a little bit, but then the sun came back out. I keep hoping that maybe I’ll get a bit of a tan or something from being outside, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.
For the 4th of July, we had a cook out here. Everyone came out around six, and we had a good time. The food was really good, and time just seemed to fly. We kind of had to hurry and leave to go to my mom’s to watch the fireworks. She lives about half a mile from where the set off the fireworks, so we had a pretty good view from her backyard. We made s’mores with my mom’s stermo s’more maker, and then we stuck around her place for about half an hour or so after the fireworks were over because traffic was insane. All in all, it was a good time.
FRIDAY FIVE
1. Given as a percentage, approximately what are the chances that there is a french fry somewhere in your car? If you do not own a car, what are the chances that there is a french fry somewhere in the car you most frequently ride in?
I’d say there’s about a 50% chance. I don’t eat in my car all that often, but I haven’t cleaned it in a very long time either.

Yay! My brother called tonight. I got to talk to him for the first time in weeks. He seemed to be doing well. He’s coming back sometime next week, apparently. I’ll be happy to see him again, but I imagine he’ll probably be bored once he’s back home, though.
I decided to watch Burn Notice tonight. It’s a new show. It seems pretty good so far, which is nice since I have little to nothing else to watch. I did catch The Closer on a rerun. I missed it on Monday night because it completely slipped my mind that it was on. I’m excited that Jericho is going to be on this summer. Unfortunately, it starts next Friday, or so my grandma said, and I won’t be able to see it. Oh, well, I’m sure I’ll be able to catch up somehow.
I won’t be able to watch next Friday because that’s the night of the Def Leppard, Styx, and Reo Speedwagon concert I’m going to with my mom, her boyfriend and some of the people she works with. I’m excited about it, though. I’m hoping to at least get a t-shirt. My mom bought me a key chain the last time she went to see them live, but I really want a t-shirt, so we’ll see.
